Blade Runner 2049
BLADE RUNNER CINEMA TRIP
On the 17th of November we went on a small trip to a local independent cinema in Oswestry.
We went to the cinema to watch the new Blade Runner 2049, an American neo noir science fiction film, a sequel to the 1982 Blade Runner.
The cinema was nothing how i imagined it to be, and i was shocked when we walked up the stairs by how much it resembled a professional cinema and the tech they had within the single room.
I can't say i have a strong interest in the science fiction film genre therefore wasn't most looking forward to watching it due to finding the original hard to follow and lacking interest in the plot.
However the opening to the the sequel did draw my attention in and i found myself amused by the effects and graphics of the opening scene.
As the film progressed I became confused between the characters and therefore am struggling to explain what happened in to much detail, but Ryan Gosling did stand out and played the main role very well. Though I may not be able to go into any exact details relating to characters specifically I found the character of Joi K's holographic girlfriend was brought to life in a very interesting way which is one of they key elements that I did take an interest to during the film. Another interesting aspect of the film was the consistent appearance of the 'immaterial girls' which gave a further sci-fi vibe.
There was elements of the sequel which showed a clear link back to the original however some things such as the children from the original were left unheard of. More could have been made out of certain moments such as when the stick containing Joi's existance was destroyed I felt as though it was looked over.
Towards what many of us thought was the end of the film it kept on going and going to the point of it becoming to long to stay interested and was in fact 2hours and 44 minutes much long than the previous blade runner which still did last for 1hour and 57minutes.
Overall I did enjoy watching Blade Runner and though I did not fully understand what was going on at all times i can most defiantly say the technological side of the production was very much appreciated and was very impressive along with admirable acting from Ryan Gosling.
